Russia has appropriated more than 34,000 real estate properties belonging to Ukrainians in the occupied territories

Russia has appropriated more than 34,000 real estate properties belonging to Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories, recognizing them as “ownerless”.

Since 2024, the Russians have confiscated 34,002 real estate properties belonging to Ukrainian citizens in order to give them to people with Russian citizenship.

We are talking about apartments, houses and cottages. In some cases, property can be temporarily leased to officials – judges, military and civil servants.

In August 2025, the head of the Rosregistry, Oleg Skufinskyi, said that the agency had identified 550,000 objects in the temporarily occupied territories, information about which was missing from the Russian register.

And also another 330 thousand hectares in captured settlements. According to Skufinskyi, later this land will be put into circulation, in particular for investment projects and housing construction. The authorities of the Russian Federation plan to recalculate real estate by the end of 2026.
