In Kyiv, a children’s hospital was damaged due to an attack
As a result of the night Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of August 11, a children’s hospital in Shevchenkivskyi district was damaged. More than 10 windows were blown out by the blast wave in the medical facility, and the ceiling and office premises were also partially damaged.
According to the report of Tetyana Mostepan, director of the health care department of the Kyiv City State Administration, there was no direct hit to the hospital – the damage was caused by the blast wave. This is not the first time that a medical facility has been damaged by Russian attacks.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Kyiv, 61 health care facilities have been damaged. In 2026, 23 such cases were recorded. In particular, during one of the previous shellings in the Holosiiv district, the dispensary was completely destroyed.
Medical facilities can suffer both directly from impacts and from the blast wave. During the last attack in the capital, there were no casualties, and one injured person was recorded among medical facilities.
Inpatient hospitals are open 24 hours a day, and when an alarm is raised, staff and patients must go to shelters. Doctors continue to provide emergency aid to the victims, who are taken to hospitals. The primary care and diagnostic centers work on a daytime schedule, but during an emergency they also go to safe places.
The children’s hospital damaged in the attack continues to operate. Currently, restoration work has already begun there, in particular, the broken windows are being closed.
