Russia drops nine air bombs on Kramatorsk city center: one person killed, at least 11 injured

On the afternoon of August 20, Russian forces launched a massive airstrike on the central part of Kramatorsk. The Russians dropped nine air bombs on the city. The attack killed one person and injured at least 11 others.

The strikes caused two large-scale fires in commercial buildings. At one location, rescuers pulled a woman out of the rubble and handed her over to medics. During the search, emergency workers also found the body of a deceased person.

The fire at the first facility was localized to an area of ​​about 1,000 square meters. However, due to the threat of a second Russian strike, rescuers were forced to temporarily suspend work. Another fire with an area of ​​800 square meters was completely extinguished.

The airstrike damaged at least 26 private and multi-apartment residential buildings, commercial premises, cars and critical infrastructure.

According to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Russian attack lasted from 10:50 to 11:16. Law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of the shelling. The final number of victims and the extent of the damage are being determined.
