On August 26, Russian troops carried out an attack with a guided air bomb on the Kherson CHP, which is the main source of heat supply for the city. This was reported by the Naftogaz Group, noting that the facility was seriously damaged as a result of the strike.
The Kherson CHP, which performs exclusively civilian functions and provides heat to the city’s residents, has repeatedly become the target of Russian shelling during 2026. Company representatives emphasized that the extent of the damage cannot currently be assessed due to the danger, but all actions to restore the facility will be coordinated with local authorities.
The shelling of the CHP is part of the Russian Federation’s systematic actions against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. Over the past months, the CHP has been subjected to numerous attacks with various types of weapons, including strike drones, missiles, guided aerial bombs, and multiple launch rocket systems.
