Danish intelligence has exposed plans and preparations for Russian sabotage against Danish defense industry companies.
This was reported on September 3 by the Berlingske newspaper, citing information from the head of counterintelligence at the Danish Security and Intelligence Service, Emil Gresholm.
“The main goal is to stop specific supplies for Ukraine’s defense,” Gresholm explained.
He also noted that Russia wants to intimidate Denmark into refusing to support Ukraine and strengthening its own defense.
The publication noted that intelligence usually does not share its information, but this time, as Emil Gresholm explained, the threat was “quite specific.”
“The targeting and preparation are so specific that we consider it necessary to publicly state that this is a threat that should be taken seriously,” he stressed.
According to Gresholm, Russia may resort to arson attacks on defense enterprises, so he called on defense industry companies to strengthen security measures.
He warned that ordinary Danes who “do not even suspect that they are working for Moscow” could become “helpers” of the Russians. In particular, he advised fellow citizens to be especially vigilant about requests to photograph or film certain companies and their facilities.
Denmark is one of the leaders in terms of military assistance to Ukraine. Since 2022, it has provided military assistance to Kyiv for a total of about 76.8 billion kroner (over €10 billion). In June 2026, the Danish Ministry of Defense announced the provision of the 30th aid package to Ukraine worth about 4.4 billion kroner (€590 million).
