Moldova warns of active recruitment of citizens for sabotage in Ukraine
The Information and Security Service of Moldova records an increase in the number of attempts to recruit citizens through Telegram channels to carry out sabotage outside the country.
According to the head of the Information and Security Service of Moldova, Alexandru Mustace, most of the Russian actions are aimed specifically against Ukraine, although this is not about direct participation in hostilities, but about reconnaissance and sabotage activities.
There is an increase in recruitment attempts on Telegram. They are recruiting for sabotage activities. It is not directed against Moldova.
People are offered from 20, 50, 100 euros and more depending on the task. Often it can be: “go there, take a photo”, “go to another place, take a photo”, “see what’s there”. Then, if they see that a person is getting involved, both the amount and the complexity of the tasks increase.
We are currently working on this together with our colleagues from Ukraine, since many people are heading there,” Mustace said.
The head of the Information and Security Service of Moldova noted that the very fact of the presence of people ready to conduct reconnaissance of the area for a small fee already poses a serious security threat.
There are frequent cases of Moldovan citizens being involved in carrying out tasks directly on Ukrainian territory.
According to the Information and Security Service of Moldova, an increase in the number of people involved for actions abroad is currently being recorded, while similar activity has not yet been observed within Moldova itself.
However, the agency is already conducting intensive preparations for possible threats on its own territory.
