Aftermath of attack on trains to Mykolaiv: over 650 passengers transported by bus

On the morning of September 16, a Russian drone struck a passenger train in the Bashtanka district, sparking a fire. Thanks to a timely evacuation, passengers and railway staff were already in a safe location at the time of the strike, so no one was injured.

State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers promptly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire—which covered a small area—while working under hazardous conditions due to the risk of follow-up enemy drone attacks. Due to the hostile action and the forced stoppage of the Kyiv–Mykolaiv and Lviv–Mykolaiv trains at a station, bus transfers were urgently organized for the passengers.

Through the joint efforts of the regional military administration, local communities, rescuers, and Ukrzaliznytsia, bus transport was provided not only for passengers heading to Mykolaiv but also for those traveling in the opposite direction to Kyiv and Lviv. In total, over 650 people were transported to their destinations by bus.
