Fatalities, injuries, and widespread destruction: Russia continues to terrorize Kyiv and the surrounding region with drones and missiles

Since the beginning of the week (September 21–28), Russia has employed every possible method of striking Kyiv and the capital region: massive attacks using jet-powered drones, multi-wave combined strikes, and ballistic missile terror.

Around 8:00 a.m. on September 26, an explosion occurred near a five-story apartment building in one of Kyiv’s districts. Residents saw a flash, and fire instantly engulfed dozens of apartments across several building entrances. Rescuers evacuated 20 people from the building.

In addition to residential buildings, the Russian army has begun shelling educational institutions in Kyiv and the Kyiv region almost daily. In one district, a “Shahed” drone crashed onto the grounds of a kindergarten, leaving part of the building a charred ruin. Meanwhile, in the village of Ivankiv in the Kyiv region, a Russian “Shahed” strike drone attacked a general education school.

According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, five people—including two children—were injured in the region due to Russian army strikes on September 26. More than 20 structures were destroyed or damaged. Russian forces once again targeted residential buildings, warehouses, and small private manufacturing facilities.
