Cars and trucks hit by shelling: five injured in Odesa region

On October 6, Russian forces launched a series of strikes on a highway in the Odesa region. Civilian passenger cars and trucks traveling along the road came under fire.

According to preliminary data, five people were injured. Two of them were urgently hospitalized with injuries of varying severity; doctors assess the condition of one of the hospitalized individuals as critical.

Medical personnel are providing all necessary care to the injured, while emergency and specialized services are working at the scene.

Civilian vehicles were damaged in the strikes. Details regarding the number of damaged vehicles and the extent of the destruction are currently being clarified.

The Odesa region has been subjected to intense Russian attacks in recent days. On October 5, industrial, port, and residential infrastructure in the region came under fire. One of the attacks caused large-scale fires, which emergency responders managed to extinguish.

Overnight into October 6, Russia attacked Odesa again; a private business building was damaged and a fire broke out, though there were no casualties in that instance.

Later that day, a Russian drone attacked a civilian vessel flying the flag of the Marshall Islands in the Black Sea. One person was killed, and seven others were injured.

Thus, in just a few days, the Odesa region has faced a series of attacks targeting transport, port, civilian, and residential infrastructure. Information regarding the consequences of the strike on the road is still subject to clarification.
