In October, Moldova recorded 19 violations of its airspace amid Russian attacks on Ukraine; six drones crashed and exploded on its territory.

This data was released by the Ministry of Defense of Moldova.

Five instances where drones exploded upon impact with the ground occurred on October 3. These were recorded outside the city of Căușeni; in the village of Constantinovca (Căușeni District); in the village of Crocmaz (Ștefan Vodă District); in the village of Puhăceni (Anenii Noi District); and in the village of Dubovca (Hîncești District).

Another drone crashed and exploded on October 16 near the village of Scăieni in the Dondușeni District.

In total, airspace violations were recorded throughout the month across ten districts: Căușeni, Ștefan Vodă, Anenii Noi, Hîncești, Ocnița, Dondușeni, Telenești, Călărași, Ungheni, and Edineț. Incidents also took place in four settlements within the Transnistrian region.

According to the Moldovan Ministry of Defense, Moldova’s airspace has been violated 67 times since the beginning of 2026. The total number of documented incidents since 2022 has reached 104.

The ministry emphasized that the country requires modern systems for the surveillance, detection, and neutralization of aerial threats. Investments in such systems are intended to help protect people and critical infrastructure.

The Moldovan Ministry of Defence has urged residents to report any drones or drone debris they may find. The Ministry had previously warned the public not to approach or touch such objects.

On October 4, Chisinau issued a note of protest to Russia following the crash of aerial objects on Moldovan territory. The Russian ambassador, Oleg Ozerov, was summoned to the Moldovan Foreign Ministry. Moldovan authorities highlighted the threat posed to civilians and demanded that Moscow cease violating the country’s sovereignty.
