As the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko reported, Russia carried out more than 40,500 shellings – more than 152,000 residential buildings were destroyed. Along with residential buildings, more than 60,000 objects of general infrastructure have been destroyed by Russian missile strikes since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
The minister emphasized that in those cities where the enemy’s missile attacks had the most extensive consequences, the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs did everything to ensure that our citizens felt safe. In particular, they were able to receive help at invincibility points, as well as from rescuers and policemen, who are the first to arrive at the scene of events to extinguish fires, rescue people from the rubble, and quickly document war crimes together with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Ihor Klymenko reported that currently 66,300 criminal proceedings have been registered regarding the commission of crimes by Russian servicemen. “Most of them – 80% – are violations of the laws and rules of warfare,” the Minister emphasized.
According to him, police investigators document these crimes and hand them over to the SBU for further investigation and prosecution of Russian war criminals.
In addition, the materials documented by the police are transferred to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, which, based on them, prepares materials for international courts. “Materials are being prepared for them, so that later international courts will consider these cases regarding the commission of war crimes on the territory of our country,” Ihor Klymenko said.
