On the night of May 4, the Russians struck Odesa with kamikaze drones. Fortunately, no one was hurt, because people followed the recommendations for actions during an air alert.
The spokesman of Odesa regional military administration, Serhiy Bratchuk, said this. According to him, the air battle over the city lasted approximately two hours, the attack was repulsed.
They specifically aimed at the dormitory
Air defense forces and mobile rapid response teams shot down 12 of 15 Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones. The Ukrainian military used all possible means of fire damage in order to prevent damage to those objects that the enemy had set as a goal.
The dormitory building of one of the educational institutions was damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Compliance with the rules that people must follow during an air alert really saves lives, Bratchuk emphasized.
Serhiу Bratchuk on the consequences of a massive attack on the region
The Russians specifically targeted the dormitory, believing that many civilians might live there. They hoped that people would ignore the air warning signal, and they would be able to repeat the tragedies that happened in Ukraine in recent days.
“We see that they have changed the tactics of their terrorism – they are hitting civilian objects. Also, the Black Sea is now being saturated with warships. Yesterday evening, the enemy took out 1 missile carrier, and today there are already 4 of them. The total volley is 32 missiles of the type “Caliber”, – noted the spokesman of the regional military administration.

During the night of May 4, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Odesa regions came under attack.

Humenyuk spoke about the unusual method of drone attack on Odesa
During the night attack on Odessa, the Russian army launched drones in an unusual way – through the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region.
This was reported by the head of the United Coordination Press Center of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine Nataliya Gumeniuk.
“15 Shahed 131 and Shahed 136 drones were launched from the direction of the Sea of Azov. Using the features of the landscape, they tried to launch them in an unusual way through the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region. This is a evasive maneuver,” Humenyuk said.
She noted that the found drone wreckage had the inscriptions “For Moscow” and “For the Kremlin” using the symbols Z and V.
“This is an attempt, most likely, to shift responsibility to Ukraine for the quasi-attack they are demonstrating to the world. It is an effort to advance your intended narrative. They tried to make the world get the impression that Ukraine is allegedly attacking far beyond the borders of its country and its competence,” Humenyuk added.
