Situation update as of 6 a.m., May 23, 2023

The russian federation continues to wage its war of aggression, does not stop launching strikes, as it shells military and civilian targets alike.

Preliminary information: last night, the enemy used up to 4x Shahed UAVs for attacks, all of them were intercepted. The information is being updated.

During the day of May 22, the adversary launched 20x missile strikes. The invaders fired airborne missiles, Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles at the cities of Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv oblasts. In addition, the occupiers launched 48x air strikes using Iranian Shahed combat UAVs.

Also, the russian aggressors launched 90x MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. The attacks have wounded civilians, damaged private residential apartment buildings, private houses, kindergarten, and other civilian infrastructure.

The likelihood of further missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains very high.

The adversary continues to focus its main efforts on Kup’yans’k, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mar’inka axes, with more than 30x combat engagements taking place. Bakhmut, and Mar’inka remain at the epicenter of the fighting.

Volyn and Polissya axes: no significant changes.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary continues to maintain military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. During the day of May 22, the invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Oleksiivka and Sosnivka (Chernihiv oblast). The occupiers fired mortars and artillery at the settlements of Karpovychi, Tymonovychi, Halahanivka, Zarichchya (Chernihiv oblast), Starykove, Khodyne, Hirky, Budky, Katerynivka, Tymofiivka, Oleksandrivka, Yunakivka, Myropillya, Popivka, Dmytrivka (Sumy oblast), Morozova Dolyna, Shevchenka, Kozacha Lopan’, Hoptivka, Luk’yantsi, Zelene, Starytsya, Hatyshche, Pletenivka, Vovchans’k, Varvarivka, Nesterne, Budarky, and Chuhunivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Kup’yans’k axis: the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the vicinity of Masyutivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders launched air strikes near Orlyans’ke, Kyslivka, and Tabaivka (Kharkiv oblast). The adversary fired artillery and mortars at Kam’yanka, Fyholivka, Novomlyns’k, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kup’yans’k, Husynka, Tabaivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast), and Stel’makhivka (Luhansk oblast).

Lyman axis: the occupiers conducted unsuccessful offensives in the vicinity of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast). The invaders also launched at Bilohorivka and near Verkhn’okam’yans’ke (Donetsk oblast). Nevs’ke, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Tors’ke, Spirne, and Vesele (Donetsk oblast), among other targets, were shelled with artillery.

Bakhmut axis: the enemy continues its offensive operations. Fighting for the city of Bakhmut continues. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Bakhmut, Ivanivske, and Bila Hora. Vasyukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Bila Hora, Toretsk, Pivnichne, Pivdenne, and New York (Donetsk oblast) suffered from enemy shelling.

Avdiivka axis: the adversary conducted unsuccessful offensives towards Novokalynove, Severne, Vodyane, and Pervomais’ke. During the day of May 22, the invaders launched air strikes near Avdiivka and Pervomais’ke. The occupant forces fired artillery in the vicinities of settlements of Novokalynove, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Vodyane, Pervomais’ke, and Karlivka (Donetsk oblast).

Mar’inka axis: numerous enemy attacks were repelled in the vicinity of the city of Mar’inka. The nearby village of Pobjeda also came under enemy fire.

Shakhtars’ke axis: the adversary did not conduct any offensive operations. The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of settlements of Vuhledar, Prechystivka, and Zolota Nyva. The invaders shelled the settlements of Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, and Prechystivka.

Zaporizhzhia and Kherson axes: the adversary stays on the defensive. During the day of May 23, the invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, and Novodanylivka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). The occupiers shelled the settlements of Vremivka, Novopil’ (Donetsk oblast), Ol’hivs’ke, Hulyaipole, Bilohir’ya, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), the city of Zaporizhzhia; Kachkarivka, Vesele, Kozats’ke, Antonivka, Stanislav (Kherson oblast), and the city of Kherson.

During the day of May 22, the Ukrainian Air Force launched 8x air strikes on the concentrations of troops and military equipment of the adversary, as well as 2x air strikes on the anti-aircraft missile systems.

During the day of May 22, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed
4x Kh-101/Kh-555 airborne cruise missiles, and 1x russian Mi-24 attack helicopter, 23x Shahed combat UAVs and 9x reconnaissance UAVs of the enemy.

The Ukrainian missile and artillery troops hit 4x command posts, 3x concentrations of weapons and military equipment, 4x ammunition depots, 11x artillery assets, 1x radar station, and 3x electronic warfare stations of the russian occupiers.
