Situation update as of 6 a.m., May 31, 2023
The russian federation continues to wage its war of aggression at the cost of heavy losses. It continues to use terror tactics in an attempt to intimidate Ukrainians, launching strikes and shelling military and civilian targets indiscriminately.
During the day of May 30, the russian federation launched yet another massive air strike on the territory of Ukraine, using Shahed combat UAVs. Almost all of the drones were intercepted by Ukrainian defenders. However, the attacks have caused civilian casualties, damaged private residential buildings, other civilian and administrative infrastructure.
During the day of May 30, the adversary launched a total of 64x air and 1x missile strikes, 88x MLRS attacks.
The likelihood of missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high.
The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on attempts to fully occupy Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts. During the day of May 30, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 22x enemy attacks.
Volyn and Polissya axes: no significant changes.
Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary made an unsuccessful attempt to infiltrate a sabotage and reconnaissance group across the state border of Ukraine in the vicinity of settlement of Zelene (Kharkiv oblast). Also, the enemy launched an air strike in the vicinity of the village of Udy. The invaders fired mortars and artillery at the settlements of Khrinivka, Karpovychi, Yanzhulivka, Leonivka (Chernihiv oblast), Seredyna-Buda, Fotovyzh, Atyns’ke, Uhroidy, Velyka Pysarivka (Sumy oblast).
Kup’yans’k axis: the adversary conducted unsuccessful offensives west of Masyutivka (Kharkiv oblast) and towards Novoselivs’ke (Luhansk oblast). The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Kotlyarivka (Kharkiv oblast) and Stel’makhivka (Luhansk oblasts). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at Kam’yanka, Novomlyns’k, Fyholivka, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kyslivka, Kotlyarivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).
Lyman axis: the adversary conducted offensive operations south of Kuz’myne, to no success. The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast) and Yampolivka (Donetsk oblast). Nevs’ke, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), and Spirne (Donetsk) were shelled with artillery.
Bakhmut axis: the adversary did not conduct any offensive operations during the day of May 30. The invaders launched an air strike in the vicinity of Vesele and a missile strike in the vicinity of New York (Donetsk oblast). Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Khromove, Ivanivske, Bila Hora, Pivnichne, Zalizne, and New York (Donetsk oblast) suffered from enemy artillery shelling.
Avdiivka axis: the adversary conducted offensive operations towards Sjeverne, to no success. Russian forces launched an air strike near Avdiivka. The invaders fired artillery at the settlements of Avdiivka, Orlivka, Pervomais’ke, and Netaylove (Donetsk oblast).
Mar’inka axis: the Ukrainian Defenders Forces repelled all enemy attacks in the vicinity of the city of Mar’inka, as well as an attack towards the settlements of Pobjeda and Novomykhailivka. At the same time, the adversary launched an air strike within the city of Mar’inka, fired artillery at Heorhiivka and Pobjeda (Donetsk oblast).
Shakhtars’ke axis: the enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Vodyane, Prechystivka, and Velyka Novosilka. The invaders shelled the settlements of Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Shakhtars’ke.
Zaporizhzhia and Kherson axes: the adversary stays on the defensive. Russian forces launched an air strike in the vicinity of Orikhiv (Zaporizhzhia oblast). The invaders shelled the settlements of Zelene Pole, Novopil’, Temyrivka (Donetsk oblast), Ol’hivs’ke, Hulyaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, Stepove (Zaporizhzhia oblast), Sadove, Komyshany, Kizomys (Kherson oblast), Kherson, and the city of Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast).
In the temporarily occupied Yalta (Autonomous Republic of Crimea), the russian occupation authorities are illegally taking away real estate from Ukrainian citizens who have not taken russian citizenship during the occupation of the peninsula. These homes are used to accommodate servicemen of the russian occupation forces.
The invaders continue to impose russian citizenship in various ways. In particular, employees of a public institution in Stanytsia Luhanska were warned that only those who re-registered with a russian bank would be paid their salary in June.
During the day of May 30, the Ukrainian Air Force launched 11x air strikes on the concentrations of troops and military equipment of the adversary, as well as 1x air strike on the anti-aircraft missile systems.
Ukrainian defenders destroyed intercepted 32x Shahed attack UAVs during the day of May 30.
The Ukrainian missile and artillery troops hit 3x command post, 1x concentration of troops, 4x artillery units at their firing positions, 1x anti-aircraft missile system, 3x fuel and lubricant depots, and 1x electronic warfare station of the adversary.
