During the 500 days of the war, 94,000 war crimes committed by the Russian army were recorded, more than 100,500 civilians of Ukraine were killed by the invaders. This was announced by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin.
“Five hundred days ago, Putin’s Russia launched the war conveyor at full capacity. 94,000 war crimes, 115,000 destroyed objects of civilian infrastructure. More than 10,500 Ukrainian civilians were killed. There are almost 500 children among them,” Kostin said.
He also noted the continuous work of Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and police investigators, who often work close to the front line to punish the Russian occupiers in national and international courts.
“There are already 353 suspects. 219 — accused, 53 criminals received sentences in Ukrainian courts,” Kostin said.
Among the achievements is the fact that, as a result of cooperation with the International Criminal Court, the International Coalition secured an arrest warrant for the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
“The International Center for Prosecution for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine has already started work in The Hague — the first element of the future tribunal,” the Prosecutor General emphasized.
An International Register of Damages was also established as a first step to ensure compensation for those affected by the war.
During the 500 days of the war, the Russian Federation destroyed and damaged almost 800 buildings in the capital of Ukraine
During 500 days of full-scale war, Ukrainians showed the whole world their spirit, strength and indomitability and destroyed the myth of the supposedly “invincible” Russian army.
This was stated by the chairman of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko: “For 500 days, a full-scale war has been going on. And they wanted to capture us in three days. And even some Western experts believed that Russia would succeed. We, all together, resisted. We showed our power. Repulsed the influx from the capital. And many people from Kyiv today continue to beat the enemy at the front. Ukrainians destroyed the myth of the supposedly “strong and invincible” Russian army. This barbaric war is a great challenge for our country. A call that united the Ukrainian nation,” Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized.
He also recalled that during the full-scale war, the enemy destroyed and damaged almost 800 buildings in the capital. 420 of them are residential buildings. Most of the most damaged buildings have already been restored, and people have returned to their homes.
“But the enemy does not stop trying to intimidate us. And Kyiv remains his main goal. Because the capital is the heart of the country. However, I am sure: we will win and there will be peace on our land!” Vitaliy Klitschko stressed.
