Kovalenko: the attack on Israel is not just terror, but a military operation with the “trace” of Russia

On the morning of October 7, the terrorist group Hamas unexpectedly attacked the southern regions of Israel. This strike caught the IDF by surprise. Israeli intelligence also fell asleep, which, it would seem, with the level of experience, involved operatives and agent network, is simply impossible. But, on the other hand, it also suggests that the terrorist group had a very high secret level of preparation for today’s attack. In addition, there was a careful planning of actions, which is not characteristic of Hamas. The quality of the preparation of this operation indicates the clear participation of curators in epaulettes.

Landmark dates

First of all, it is worth paying attention to the special dates of what is happening. The fact is that 50 years ago, on October 6, 1973, the “Doomsday” war began, which ended with the complete defeat of the Arab coalition of Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Jordan, which was supported by the USSR. In addition, the attack was committed on the holy days for Jews – on Shabbat of the week of Sukkot.

It is obvious that the dates were not chosen spontaneously or situationally, the terrorist attack itself was cynically prepared in advance. But the question arises – is it terrorist?

Military operation

Of course, the killing of civilians on the streets of southern Israel, in Sderot, Ashkelon, Ofakim and other cities are acts of terror. But there is an important nuance: they did not carry out a traditional, chaotic and disorderly sequence of actions aimed exclusively at the mass of innocent victims at the hands of terrorists. On the contrary, they show balance, thoughtfulness and tactics.

In fact, you and I witnessed a military operation by the forces of small tactical groups distinguished by mass and mobility.

Under the roar of shelling of Israeli cities with improvised MLRS, the border wall was breached by groups on pickup trucks and motorcycles, supported by reconnaissance and strike components from the air, in the form of drones, and strikes were also carried out not only at checkpoints and military units, but also at TPPs and communication nodes tie, etc.

That is, we are talking not only about the highest level of secrecy of the preparation of such an operation, information about which has completely passed by the Israeli special services, but also about the nature of careful planning of actions, which is not characteristic of Hamas.

And in this context, attention should be paid to two points. The first – how did it happen that almost no MOSSAD agent received information that even remotely hinted at such an operation? Doesn’t this mean that the MOSSAD agent network was completely exposed, but the agents themselves, in order not to attract attention, were not neutralized, but simply removed from the area of preparation for the operation?

The second point – the quality of the preparation of the operation indicates the clear participation of the curators in the epaulettes. First of all, of course, the Iranians. But that’s the fact that in the tandem of Hamas and Iran, Russia always oozes shadow. And one should not reject its direct assistance in matters of a tactical plan and not only tactical… Especially considering how actively the Russian information field has begun to support terror and violence committed by terrorists in Israel.

And that is why this is a carefully thought-out military operation with the use of a wide range of improvised means of destruction of heavily armored and aerial vehicles of the IDF.

A Merkava Mk.4 tank is thoughtfully hit from a drone in a weakly protected overhead projection with a tandem cumulative shot of a PG-7VR (possibly a PG-29B). Who would doubt it, because Hamas are masters of using drones against heavily armored vehicles, right? Or not so?

The helicopters are fired from the “Igla-1” MANPADS – taking into account all the specifics of conducting such fire. Did you learn in a garage, on a simulator?

The result is that the losses of the IDF in less than a day significantly exceeded the irreparable losses of the “Cast Iron” operation.

Israel’s response

The answer will certainly be as tough as possible. Hamas framed the Palestinians, and that is why I am surprised by the primitive reaction that comes from the Palestinians who took to the streets to support the terrorists. It is unlikely that the IDF will be selective in striking terrorists in order to eliminate the threat to Israelis as soon as possible.

The bloody morning of October 7 can be counted as a situational victory for Hamas, which will not lead to anything other than the destruction of most of the functionaries and fighters of this organization with inevitable accompanying victims. They brought punishment on themselves.

In addition, despite the fact that the leadership of Hamas (and not only it) is now hiding in Qatar, it is unlikely that it will be able to feel at ease after today’s carnage. I will not be at all surprised if Qatar does not become a refuge for them.

Consequences

Israel will deal with this terrorist plague, but the MOSSAD and the IDF have been dealt a serious reputational blow.

Shooting civilians on the streets of Israeli cities and in their homes, mocking of prisoners, mocking of the corpses of the dead, the humiliating capture of General Nimrod Aloni, who was brought out into the street in his underwear…

Israel will respond, but this response will be too late.

The dead, tortured and tortured cannot be returned. Yes, they can be avenged, but Hamas, even after suffering tens of times more losses and even if it will be almost completely destroyed in the coming days or weeks, has achieved what it sought. He showed that Israel is weak and can be dealt painful blows.

What was the result of this? The soft and corrupt government of the country led by Benjamin Netanyahu? Ignoring the problem of Russia’s growing influence in the terrorist environment? The lack of a tougher position and reaction to the strengthening of the Iran-Russia tandem with all the consequences that follow?

The footage from southern Israel is painfully reminiscent of Ukrainian Bucha, Borodyanka, Irpin, Gostomel… For more than a year and a half, official Israel ignored a number of issues that could weaken Russia not only in Ukraine, but also in the Middle East region. Meanwhile, flirting with Russia has led to the fact that terrorist organizations have strengthened and are capable of conducting military operations.

And, in my opinion, an equally important consequence of the October 7 massacre may be not so much a large-scale response by the IDF, but a change in all priorities previously used in the country’s foreign policy. Of course, with the replacement of a hopeless political pool that flirts more than decides.
