During the attack, one of the “martyrs” was shot down in the Dnipro district, near the Patriarchal Cathedral and the residence of the Head of the UGCC. The shock wave damaged doors and knocked out windows in the cathedral. A high-rise building near the temple suffered greater destruction.
“As a result of the drone attack on Kyiv, six windows in the basement of the Patriarchal Cathedral were damaged. The blast wave shattered the double-glazed windows. The fittings on four doors of the temple were damaged, and everything came loose from the door locks,” said Vasyl Bukatyuk, director of the Construction Directorate under the Patriarch of the UGCC.
In addition to the church, according to him, the residence of the Head of the Church was also damaged – the fittings of three doors were damaged in the Patriarchal residence and the Patriarchal Curia.
In addition, minor damage to the facade of the Patriarchal Cathedral was recorded. Many pieces of drones of various sizes were collected on its territory. “In exchange for gifts from St. Nicholas, we will have original souvenirs,” says His Beatitude Svyatoslav.
