The Russian military captured the local history museum in Verkhnyi Rohachyk, Kherson Region

The Russian authorities seized the local history museum in Verkhnyi Rohachyk, Kakhovsky District, Kherson Region. After the invasion of Russian troops in the south of Ukraine, the facility was left without heating. The Russians have already announced that they are going to “restore” its work and use it for purely propaganda purposes.

This is reported by the Center for Journalistic Investigations.

On January 14, a video about the capture of the museum in Verkhnyi Rohachik in the Kherson region was distributed by local occupation media. It shows how Russian military personnel, “senator” from the Kherson region Igor Kastyukevich, the mayor of Verkhnyi Rogachik Vitaly Vasyutynskyi and the previous mayor of the community Valentina Belanova walk around the premises of the institution.

In the plot, the Russians paid the most attention to the damaged Soviet flag “the winner of the socialist competition”, from which they concluded about the alleged destruction of the “heritage of the past” in Ukraine.

The occupation authorities also announced their intention to restore the work of this museum and use it for purely propaganda purposes.

The local history museum in Verkhnyi Rohachyk was created in 1986. It contains more than 1,300 exhibits. After the liquidation of the Verkhnyorogachytsky district, the local history museum is subordinated to the local village council.
