A 500-kilogram bomb completely destroyed a village workshop: details of the Russian airstrike in Sumy region

On the afternoon of February 9, the Russian army dropped eleven guided aerial bombs from planes on the border villages of Khotyn and Yunakiv territories. The Russians destroyed civilian infrastructure, killed civilians…

Yuriy Gamota, a police officer of the Khotyn community, was one of the first to come to the aid of local residents where the shootings took place.

The policeman says that the 500-kilogram bomb completely destroyed the village workshop, and several middle-aged and older people who worked there were buried under its rubble. All of them are residents of the village of Kindrativka.

“I arrived at the place of impact immediately after the raid, people were already gathering near the ruins trying to help those who were under the rubble of bricks and concrete. From there we heard screams and groans, so we were able to quickly find out where the living were, and with joint efforts began to free them. They pulled out a man of about 50 years old, he was very tight.

His ribs and leg were broken, but he was conscious. They carefully put him in my company car, and I drove to Sumy to the hospital. All the time he tried to talk to the wounded man, made sure that he did not lose consciousness. Fortunately, it was possible to get the man to the hospital safely,” says police major Yuriy Gamota.

Returning back, already at the entrance to the regional center, the policeman met an ambulance carrying another woman who was pulled out from under the rubble. The law enforcement officer turned around and, turning on the siren and lights, accompanied them to the hospital.

Four people were saved that day. Unfortunately, two men and a woman, who worked in the premises of the first floor of the workshop, died. Their bodies were already removed from under the rubble by the employees of the State Emergency Service using a crane, because the blocks were so heavy that it was simply impossible to move them manually.
