On March 14, around 1:00 p.m., the Russians dropped a guided aerial bomb (ABM) on the premises of Ukrposhta, located in the very center of the village of Velika Pysarivka, Sumy region. As a result, the premises of the “Vorskla” newspaper, whose editorial office is located in a nearby building, suffered significant damage.

This is reported to the Institute of Mass Information, referring to its representative in the Sumy region.

“The windows flew out now from the other side. I left less than a minute before. I was uploading binders of newspapers, the archive,” the chief editor of the newspaper, Oleksiy Pasyuga, told the regional representative of the Institute of Mass Information.

According to her, the security situation in the region is worsening – the civilian population is being called to evacuate, and people are being taken to safer places in an organized manner.

This is not the first time that the Vorskla editorial office has been damaged. On February 16, 2024, the Russians hit the center of the village of Velyka Pysarivka with the Grad rocket launcher. When the shelling subsided, the locals saw the body of a 37-year-old man killed by them on the street, as well as damaged houses, buildings and cars. On that day, the editorial office of the “Vorskla” newspaper was also damaged. It had all the windows broken and the roof damaged. The property of the editorial office was cut into pieces.

Velika Pysarivka is located 6 kilometers from the state border of Ukraine with the Russian Federation, it is the center of the community of the same name in the Okhtyrskуі district of Sumy Region, the southernmost of the border regions.

“Vorskla” newspaper was founded almost 30 years ago. The target audience of the publication is community residents.

According to the Institute of Mass Information, the newspaper has not stopped printing since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, information is delivered to the villages located in a five-kilometer strip of the border, thanks to local residents, the authorities, and the employees of the newspaper themselves. During the difficult times of martial law, copies were printed on the printer of the editorial office itself.

After the latest damage, it is impossible to work in the newspaper editorial office.
