During the Russian aggression, the occupying forces destroyed about 500 churches and religious buildings of various denominations.
This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
“Hundreds of religious buildings were destroyed, damaged or looted as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. All religions and denominations were affected, including churches, mosques, synagogues, educational and administrative buildings of religious communities of Ukraine,” the Head of State emphasized.
The president noted that for Russia all these are just targets.
“But the missiles and artillery of the terrorist state did not break our humanity and faith. Ukraine will win, life will win!” Zelenskyі emphasized.
Consequences of a rocket attack on the National Museum of Skovorody in Kharkiv region
In the Kharkiv region, almost a year has passed since the destruction of the National Memorial Complex of Grigory Skovoroda
The Russian army, without any apparent reason, launched a rocket attack on a civilian object – the building of the National Literary and Memorial Museum of H. S. Skovoroda, located in the village of Skovorodinivka, Zolochiv community, Kharkiv region.
It was in this village that the outstanding Ukrainian philosopher, writer, musician and theologian Hryhoriy Skovoroda spent the last 4 years of his life.
The museum complex, which included a number of buildings from the beginning of the 18th century, existed for exactly 50 years, until it was destroyed by the Russians on the night of May 7, 2022. In the east of Ukraine, there are very few places left that would have such ancient connections with Ukrainian baroque culture, when, in fact, the formation of the Ukrainian nation took place. That is why such a terrorist act can without exaggeration be considered an act of ethnocide.
