“All production was in shambles”: the consequences of the drone attack on Cherkasy were shown

In Cherkasy, a furniture factory was on fire as a result of a night attack by strike UAVs. Several enterprise buildings and cars were also damaged.

Private entrepreneur Serhiy Kalafitskyi learned from a neighbor that a fire had broken out at the enterprise at night. He has been doing business in Cherkasy since 2003: “It was at 2:12 a.m. and 12 p.m. I have video surveillance here, I don’t have a security guard, but my neighbors do. Well, my neighbor’s driver returned from a flight, he was at the enterprise at the time. He heard the explosion, called his boss, he called me back, and called rescuers.”

After the call, Serhiy Kalafitskyi arrived at the enterprise:

“I was here at 3 a.m. already. The rescuers were finishing the investigation, pouring water on it. Then the police, the Security Service of Ukraine, and others arrived.”

The businessman does not yet know the amount of damage, but in addition to the building, all the cars parked on the territory were damaged:

“Well, I can’t even imagine, I bought one car last year for 30 thousand dollars, the second one for more than 30 thousand for sure. This one costs even more, this car too, they are all now. The equipment inside the building is not that expensive. But there are no windows, no doors. The roof was broken, it’s just slate, as much as it takes to cover it.”

A commission from the city council was also working at the scene of the impact, since Serhiy Kalafitskyі filed applications for compensation:

“The commission from the city hall registered the consequences. Well, and then there – according to plan. But the plan is such that, to be honest, I’m already confused.”

There is also damage on the territory of the enterprise nearby, said Deputy Director Oksana Dudnik:

“We produce boilers for the whole of Ukraine – on solid fuel, on gas, we have production here. Fragments fell, windows were damaged. There was no fire, but the damage was significant,” – commented Ms. Oksana.

She added that in the morning, when she came to work, she was shocked by what she saw:

“You go into the yard and see that there is glass everywhere: in the workshops, in the yard, and in the office premises. Even inside, door handles fell, they were knocked out, the clock fell and broke. The whole production was in a state of chaos.”

The head of the housing and communal services department of the Cherkasy City Council, Andriy Naumchuk, said that compensation of 50,000 to 100,000 hryvnias is provided:

“To support legal entities that suffered losses due to the aggression of the Russian Federation, we are the only city in Ukraine that provides compensation not only to individuals but also to legal entities. The amount of compensation is 50,000 hryvnias in case of damage to property that was owned and can be restored. And 100,000 for objects that are owned and destroyed.”

As reported by the head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets, there were no injuries as a result of the events.
