Almost 40 rescuers in the Kharkiv region have been injured since the beginning of the full-scale invasion

During the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, 4 rescuers were killed and another 35 were injured in the Kharkiv region.

This was reported by the head of the State Emergency Service in the Kharkiv region, Artem Astakhov.

In Izyum, on September 15, 2023, a memorial plaque was opened to Kostyantyn Malyarov, the deceased rescuer of the 28th State Fire and Rescue Unit of the main department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region. His parents, siblings and ordinary residents of Izyum came to honor the memory of the hero.

A 39-year-old man died on May 17 in Izyum. Russian soldiers killed Konstantin when he was returning to the unit after extinguishing the fire.

The rescuer was driving a fire truck – the Russian military fired at the car, fragments of shells disabled it. “The personnel immediately left the cabin, but Kostyantyn Malyarov received injuries that turned out to be incompatible with life,” the State Emergency Service said.

In Ukraine, 80 rescuers have died since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. 287 employees of the State Emergency Service were injured while performing their duties. This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

Also, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, 435 Ukrainian rescuers have been awarded state awards, and three employees of the State Emergency Service have been awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
