Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, about 800 sports facilities have been damaged or destroyed.
This was reported by the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matviy Bidny. According to him, of these facilities, 179 were completely destroyed, 134 were partially destroyed, and more than 400 were seriously damaged.
Stadiums, sports complexes, ice arenas, training bases, including 21 Olympic, Paralympic and Deaflympics training bases, were damaged.
The most destruction was recorded in the Kherson, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Sumy and Mykolaiv regions, but damaged facilities are in 18 regions. Where possible, infrastructure is being restored using local budgets, the state budget, with the support of patrons or volunteers.
More than 50 facilities have already been repaired, including the stadium in Trostyanka, the stadium named after Yuriy Bilonog in Sumy region, the Atlant base in Mykolaiv region, the Dynamo sports complex in Zhytomyr, the sports school in Makarov, and the Dynamo water station.
As a result of the Russian attack in Chernihiv region, two energy workers from the Chernihivvoblenergo joint-stock company were killed, who were returning after restoring electricity to residents.
On October 11, the Russian military attacked an ambulance in Kherson with a drone. As a result of the shelling, the driver was injured and hospitalized.
The Russian military is carrying out a large-scale attack on energy infrastructure facilities. Energy workers are taking all necessary measures to minimize the negative consequences.
