An outbreak of hepatitis A was recorded in the occupied territories

The undermining of the Kakhovskaya HPP by the Russians led to the deterioration of the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the occupied territories of the Kherson region, writes Nataliya Kava.

This is stated in the evening summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on June 22.

The blow-up of the hydroelectric power plant led to a sharp deterioration in the sanitary-epidemiological situation in a number of settlements on the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region.

The civilian population’s lack of access to proper medical care and quality water has led to an outbreak of viral hepatitis A, and there is also a threat of the spread of other viral diseases.

“For their part, Russian representatives do not recognize the increase in the number of cases and, on the contrary, try to hide it. Measures to stabilize the sanitary-epidemiological situation in the region are not carried out,” the General Staff reported.

Russian troops blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP on June 6, causing 80 settlements to be flooded. The water rose to 5 meters in some places. As of now, the water has already receded.

In the Kherson region, the invaders formed special groups to hide the bodies of the dead

On the left bank of the Kherson region, the occupiers formed special groups to remove and, apparently, hide the bodies of people who died as a result of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, said this in his evening video message: “There was also a separate report by the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding the support of people and life in the Kherson Region and other areas of our South, which suffered from the destruction of the Kakhovsky Reservoir. Of course, we also have information on the fact that is happening in the occupied part of the Kherson region. Even the word “catastrophe” is not enough for this. The Russian evil formed special groups there to remove and, obviously, hide the bodies of the dead.”

According to him, this is not the first time that Russia is trying to destroy the evidence and traces of its crimes in the occupied territory.

“That’s what they did in Mariupol and in other places. But this is such a truth that cannot be hidden. And I thank everyone who helps our intelligence, our special services to get the necessary information!” – emphasized Zelenskyі.
