Another ecological disaster in the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia region

A new case of ecological disaster was recorded in the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia region. In the village of Novodanylivka, Melitopol district, the Velykyi Utlyuk River has virtually disappeared.

According to local residents, the reservoir has now turned into a dry puddle with a cracked bottom, through which only a thin stream flows. Previously, before the full-scale Russian invasion, the river was full-flowing, and in places the depth reached two meters.

Environmentalists warn that the disappearance of the Velikiy Utlyuk repeats the situation with the main river of the region – Molochnaya. The water in both reservoirs has almost completely disappeared, which causes the destruction of the local ecosystem and threatens the flora and fauna of the southern Zaporizhzhia region.

Local activists call on international organizations to pay attention to the ecological disaster and initiate measures to preserve the region’s water resources.
