As a result of attacks by Russian troops, the theater building in Kherson was damaged

As a result of shelling of Kherson by Russian troops on December 29, 2025, the building of the Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater named after Mykola Kulish was damaged.

This became known from a post by the theater’s general director, Oleksandr Knyga.

Theater employee Konstantin said that when he came to work at the theater in the morning, he saw the consequences of the attack by Russian troops. The theater workshop suffered significant damage, many windows were broken in the theater building. Some of them have already been closed.

According to Konstantin, there were no injuries or deaths as a result of this shelling.

According to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, as of August 25, 2025, 2,359 cultural infrastructure facilities were damaged as a result of shelling and hostilities in Ukraine, of which 471 were completely destroyed. Kherson region is among the three regions where cultural infrastructure suffered the greatest losses.
