As a result of Russian shelling, an entire family – a couple and three children – was burned to death in the Kharkiv region

Serhii Bolvinov, the head of the investigative department of the main department of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, announced this.

“There are five corpses in one house at once. Family. Burned alive. We are currently identifying all the affected people. Previously, children aged 4 and 7 and an infant were among the dead. There are two dead adults in another burned house,” the message reads.

As the investigators established, after the shelling there was a fuel leak, which mixed with the snow and spread across the street. The fire started in 15 houses. The family was held hostage by the fire inside their own house.

“The husband’s body is in the corridor of the house, the mother and the children tried to save themselves in the bathroom. We do not yet know where the baby’s body is. The search is underway. Witnesses were interviewed. They report that it sounded like “shahedy”, – noted Serhiy Bolvinov.

Investigators, a group of forensic experts and explosives experts are working on the spot. As the head of the Investigative Department of the Main Department of the Kharkiv Region National Police later added, they could not identify the baby’s body on the spot.

“The burning temperature was such that the baby’s bones and body were almost reduced to ashes. A medical examiner is on site. We collect everything and take it to the morgue for examination. We assume that the mother held the children, hugging and pressing them to her chest,” Serhiy Bolvinov wrote.
