As a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, 1,189 objects of the cultural infrastructure of Ukraine were damaged – Ministry of Culture

As of December 25, 2022, 1,189 objects of cultural infrastructure were damaged in Ukraine due to Russian aggression. Almost a third of them – 446 objects – were completely destroyed.

This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the greatest losses and damages to the cultural infrastructure were experienced in the Donetsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhіa, Sumy and Kherson regions.

The largest group of cultural infrastructure objects that suffered damage or destruction are club facilities – 47% of the total number of cultural infrastructure facilities that suffered damage.

In general, the following were affected:

club facilities – 563 units. (destroyed – 222 units; damaged – 341 units), of which the majority are in the Donetsk (24%), Kharkiv (14%) and Kyiv (10%) regions;

libraries – 453 units. (destroyed – 155 units; damaged – 298 units), of which the majority are in the Donetsk (27%), Kyiv (17%) and Mykolaiv (13%) regions;

museums and galleries – 63 units. (destroyed – 22 units; damaged – 41 units;), most of which are in Donetsk (37%) and Kharkiv (11%) regions;

theaters and philharmonics – 18 units. (destroyed – 9 units; damaged – 9 units) in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv regions. and the city of Kyiv;

art education institutions – 92 units. (destroyed – 38 units; damaged – 54 units), most of which are in Donetsk (30%) and Kharkiv (14%) regions.

The department noted that now almost the entire territory of Luhansk and significant parts of the territories of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions are under temporary occupation. Because of this, it is impossible to calculate the exact number of objects of cultural infrastructure damaged during hostilities and occupation.

The total amount of damage caused to the natural environment of Ukraine as a result of the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation is more than 1.5 trillion hryvnias.

During the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the occupying forces damaged more than 27,000 infrastructure facilities in the Kyiv region, of which about 24,000 are residential buildings.

The main load in 2023 will fall on thermal power generation facilities, the state will have to rely on its own coal production, Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said.

He noted that during the last three months, the objects of the energy system of Ukraine have been subjected to daily shelling, therefore, in his opinion, the situation in the coal industry, as well as in the country’s energy sector in general, is quite difficult.

Of all the post-Soviet countries, Ukraine had the greatest success in the development of wind generation. The total installed capacity in the country in 2021 was 9,225 MW (11.6% of the total energy balance), and in Russia it was 5,216 MW (10.2% of the total energy balance). The leaders of renewable energy in Ukraine are Dnipropetrovsk Oblast — 1,164 MW, Kherson Oblast — 1,083 MW, and Mykolaiv Oblast — 1,074 MW.

During the full-scale Russian war in Ukraine, 453 children died

From February 24, 2022 to the morning of January 6, 2023, Russia killed at least 453 children and more than 877 were injured in varying degrees of severity.

This is reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“As of the morning of January 6, 2023, more than 1,330 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. According to the official information of juvenile prosecutors, 453 children died and more than 877 were injured of various degrees of severity,” the press service writes.

Currently, work is underway to establish data in places of active hostilities, as well as in temporarily occupied and liberated territories.

Children were most affected in Donetsk Oblast – 429, Kharkiv Oblast – 268, Kyiv Oblast – 117, Kherson Oblast – 83, Mykolaiv Oblast – 81 and Zaporizhia Oblast – 81, Chernihiv Oblast – 68, Luhansk Oblast – 65, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast – 40.

Yesterday, January 5, in the city of Beryslav, Kherson region, a shell hit a residential building as a result of shelling. The family died together with their 12-year-old son.

In addition, 3,126 educational institutions were damaged due to shelling by the Russian military, 337 of them were completely destroyed.

We will remind, also on the day of the announcement of the “Christmas truce”, the Russian occupiers twice hit Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region with rockets.

On the morning of January 6, Russian invaders fired at the fire station in Kherson. As a result of the attack, one rescuer died, four others were injured.

On January 3, Russian terrorists launched a massive rocket attack on Kramatorsk. As a result of the attack, one-story and multi-story buildings were damaged, and there are people injured.
