On the night and morning of March 9, Russian troops shelled the Sumy region, carrying out 16 attacks on border territories and settlements. As a result of the shelling, residential buildings were damaged, and a fire also broke out.

On March 9, 2025, as of 8:00, the Sumy region was subjected to another round of shelling by Russian troops.
As a result of the Russian shelling of a residential area of the city, a fire broke out in a two-story building. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire in a few hours.
The Russian strike caused a severe fire, but it was possible to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
At night and in the morning, the Russians carried out 16 attacks on border areas and settlements, causing 44 explosions. In particular, the Sumy, Yunakivska, Bilopolska, Krasnopilska, Velykopysarivska and Esmanska communities were under attack.
In the Esmanska community, the Russians struck with multiple rocket launchers (15 explosions) and FPV drones (3 explosions), as a result of which three private houses were damaged.
The Yunakivska community also became a target for Russian artillery – self-propelled guns caused 3 explosions, and KAB – another 4. In the Krasnopilska community, one explosion from an FPV drone was recorded.
The Russians dropped 12 mines on the Velykypysarivska community, and two explosions from enemy UAVs occurred in the Sumy community, damaging residential infrastructure and non-residential premises. Two explosions occurred in the Bilopolska community due to the dropping of VOG from UAVs.
