As of the end of April, the Russian army damaged 1,987 cultural institutions, of which 324 were destroyed

 

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy reported that as of April 25, 2024, as a result of Russia’s military aggression, 1,987 Ukrainian cultural institutions were damaged, of which 324 were destroyed.

Among the damaged objects, 30 are state-owned cultural institutions, the rest are communally owned.

According to the calculations of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, as of February 25, 2024, as a result of Russian aggression, 1,946 objects of cultural infrastructure were damaged, of which 317 were destroyed.

The department also noted that currently “almost the entire territory of Luhansk and significant parts of the territories of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Kherson regions are still under temporary occupation, which makes it impossible to calculate the exact number of cultural institutions damaged during hostilities and occupation.”
