In the Odessa region, search and rescue operations at the site of the Russian attack on June 23, which lasted 24 hours, have been completed in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. Three people were killed, among the injured are children, the State Emergency Service reported.
As a result of the Russian strike, 14 people were injured, including two teenagers who were passing by at the time of the strike. As of the evening of June 23, two deaths were known, but on June 24, their number increased to three.
74 rescuers worked at the site of the hit on the educational institution, dog handlers, 16 units of equipment, local fire brigades and volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross were involved.
Head of the regional military administration Oleg Kiper visited the injured in the hospital, in particular teenagers Mark and Maksym. According to him, 16-year-old Mark saved his friend.
“After the impact, he rushed to save his friend Maksym and literally pulled him out from under the rubble. The guy was not confused, not scared – he just acted,” Kiper noted.
He also spoke with the director of the lyceum, who was also injured. Training for lyceum students will be organized in three other schools from September 1. All teachers and technical staff will keep their jobs. After the rubble is cleared, an expert examination will be conducted to decide whether it is possible to restore the building or whether a new one will have to be built.
The Russians attacked the lyceum on the afternoon of June 23. As President Volodymyr Zelensky reported, according to preliminary data, it was a ballistic missile strike. There could be people under the rubble.
