Attack on Zaporizhzhia: 13 dead and almost 30 injured

In Zaporizhzhia, the death toll has risen to 13, another 32 people were injured as a result of the Russian attack on the city.

This was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration and the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“On January 8, 2024, the Russian army carried out an air attack on the infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia. According to preliminary data, 13 people were killed, another 32 were injured,” the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.

Also, as a result of the Russian shelling, multi-storey buildings, an industrial facility and other infrastructure of the city were destroyed. Debris hit a tram and a minibus with passengers. Cars parked nearby were damaged.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched in criminal proceedings into the commission of a war crime that caused the death of people (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

President Volodymyr Zelenskyі reacted to the Russian attack. According to him, there may be more victims.

“There is nothing more cruel than air bombs on the city, realizing that ordinary civilians will suffer. Pressure is needed on Russia for terror. We need to support the protection of lives in Ukraine. “Ending such a war with a reliable peace is possible only through force,” he said.
