The Kromberg & Schubert facility in Lutsk has suspended production following a Russian attack. The company has officially confirmed the stoppage and stated that it is currently assessing the impact of the strike. No timeline for the resumption of production has been provided; this will depend on the outcome of the situation assessment and whether it is safe for employees to return to their workplaces.
In a message to staff, the company emphasized that the safety and well-being of its personnel remain the top priority. Employees have been asked to stay in touch with their direct supervisors for further instructions regarding work arrangements.
Kromberg & Schubert specializes in automotive wiring and on-board cable systems. The Lutsk plant manufactured components for various international automotive brands, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Skoda, and Porsche. These systems facilitate communication between the electronic control units and the equipment within a modern vehicle.
While the shutdown of a single production site does not immediately halt the assembly lines of automakers, it highlights the reliance of international supply chains on Ukrainian enterprises. In the automotive industry, the production timelines for specific cable harnesses are directly linked to the manufacturing schedules of the clients; therefore, the restoration of stable operations at the supplier is significant.
The company noted that it is currently evaluating the condition of the facility and coordinating the next steps. At the same time, no specific date for the resumption of production was announced. The enterprise expressed its gratitude to the rescuers from the State Emergency Service and other emergency services who helped ensure the safety of people following the attack.
For now, the suspension of operations has been confirmed, with the safety of employees remaining the top priority. In the aforementioned statement, the company did not disclose estimates of the damage, details regarding damage to production equipment, or forecasts concerning the fulfillment of orders.
