As a result of the attack on Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, the writer Viktoria Amelina died. Immediately after the impact, she was hospitalized. Doctors fought for the woman’s life for several days, but could not save her.
In general, the number of people killed as a result of Russian rocket attacks on Kramatorsk on June 27 increased to 13 people.
Victoria received serious injuries, which turned out to be incompatible with life. She died on July 1 in the Hospital named after Mechnikov in Dnipro. The public was informed of the death after relatives and relatives of the writer found out about the tragedy.
“In the near future, relatives will inform about the time and place of saying goodbye to Victoria in Kyiv and Lviv. For us, relatives, friends and colleagues of Victoria, it is extremely important that the cultural initiatives founded by her continue. Later, we will share with you information about how all those who care can to support her life’s cause,” the public organization specified.
Victoria Amelina is the author of a number of children’s books, novels “Home for Home”, “The November Syndrome, or Homo Compatiens”. She has begun work on her first non-fiction book in English to be published abroad, War and Justice Diary: Looking at Women Looking at War.
With the beginning of the full-scale war, the writer was engaged in documenting the war crimes of the Russians. On June 27, she was in Kramatorsk with a delegation of Colombian journalists and writers. They decided to have dinner at the Ria Lounge restaurant in the city center, at that moment the Russians struck the establishment. As a result of the attack, the writer was seriously injured.
She received professional first aid, after which she was hospitalized in Dnipro. Doctors fought for the woman’s life for several days. But the wound was fatal. In the last days of Victoria’s life, her family and friends were by her side.
Because of the attack on Kramatorsk, the law enforcement officers started a pre-trial investigation into violations of the laws and customs of war (parts 1, 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine reported the detention of an agent of the Russian special services who corrected the Russian missile strike.
