
On the afternoon of December 17, the Russians attacked Zaporizhzhia and its suburbs with four guided bombs. Three of them hit Zaporizhzhia directly, and the fourth attacked the area near an educational institution in the village of Kushugum.
The details of this attack were given by the spokesman for the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Kovalenko.
According to him, as a result of one of the hits, a 9-story residential building suffered significant damage. “A dozen or so apartments” on the seventh, eighth, and ninth floors were destroyed there. They became uninhabitable.
In another area, a two-story residential building was damaged. It also suffered significant damage.
In addition to these two houses, 12 other houses located nearby were damaged. One of them is private. The blast wave shattered windows and balconies there. Dozens of cars and an infrastructure facility were also damaged.
In total, according to Oleksandr Kovalenko, 130 apartments were damaged to one degree or another. Those people whose apartments became uninhabitable will be provided with money to rent housing.
As for Kushugum, dozens of private houses were damaged there after being hit by a Russian guided aerial bomb.
What is known about the wounded as a result of the bombing of Zaporizhzhia
As reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Ivan Fedorov, 30 people were injured as a result of this attack. Five of them are children – girls aged two, nine and eleven and boys aged five and thirteen.
Three people are in serious condition. Doctors assess the condition of 14 injured as average. The injured have shrapnel wounds, contusions, and acute stress reactions.
Rescue units have already officially announced the completion of emergency rescue operations at the sites of the hits. In addition to direct assistance in clearing the rubble, psychologists of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) were actively involved in providing professional support to 27 citizens. Among those who needed psychological assistance were two children and two people with limited mobility who were in a state of severe stress due to the attack.
This latest attack on the civilian infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia highlights the critical need to strengthen air defenses to protect frontline cities from air terror. All victims are currently under medical supervision, and city services are working to eliminate the consequences of the destruction in the residential sector.
