Brazen provocation occurs on Latvia-Belarus border an attempt was made by 20 people to breach the Latvian border.
Latvian military personnel thwarted an attempt by 20 migrants to illegally cross the border from Belarus; individuals accompanying the group threatened the troops with weapons. Latvian Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava reported this on X.
According to him, this particular provocation was notably brazen and aggressive, unlike many previous incidents.
The individuals accompanying the group were positioned on the Belarusian side of the border. They were armed, threatened soldiers of the Latvian National Armed Forces, and actively urged the group of migrants toward Latvia, Dombrava wrote.
A few hours after this incident, masked individuals entered Latvian territory. They damaged a distribution cabinet and stole cameras, then returned to Belarus before border guards could arrive at the scene.
Dombrava warned that such incidents could have more serious consequences for Belarus itself.
