“Despite the observance of the cease-fire regime by the Russian military group from 12 o’clock Moscow time today, January 6, the Kyiv regime continued its artillery shelling of populated areas and positions of Russian troops,” the Ministry of Defense said on January 6.

It indicates that Ukrainian troops carried out 4 mortar attacks near Liman (Donetsk region), 3 artillery attacks in the area of ​​Bilogorivka settlement in Luhansk region.

From the area of ​​Novopavlivka, Zaporizhzhia region, 8 artillery shells were allegedly fired.

“The positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, from which the shelling was carried out, were suppressed by the retaliatory fire of the Russian troops,” – assures the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that the head of the occupation administration of Donetsk region, Denis Pushylin, stated on January 5 that the Russian fire in return does not fall under the “Christmas truce”.

According to him, there are currently no signs that the corridor will at least be opened and people will be able to leave the occupied territories.

The President of the National Atomic Energy Company (NAEC) “Energoatom” Petro Kotin allowed the use of force to regain control over the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

He believes that Ukraine must regain control of the nuclear power plant, which has been under Russian occupation since the beginning of March 2022, at any cost.

Kotin does not rule out that this may happen as a result of the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The head of “Energoatom” emphasized that if the Defense Forces of Ukraine manage to break through the Russian defense line in the Zaporizhzhia region and liberate Melitopol, then the occupiers will have no choice but to leave the NPP.

In addition, due to massive missile attacks on energy infrastructure facilities and, as a result, a power shortage in the power system, the plant reduced production, thereby reducing the consumption of purchased electricity,” the press release explains.

As reported, Zaporizhstal in 2021 kept the production of rolled products at the level of 2020 – 3.204 million tons, reduced steel production by 0.1% – to 3 million 778.25 thousand tons, and increased pig iron – by 0.1%, to 4 million 473.5 thousand tons.

The main consumers of products are manufacturers of welded pipes, enterprises of automobile, transport, agricultural engineering, and manufacturers of household appliances.
