After treacherous attack of the federation against Ukraine on the 24th of February 2022, the Russian federation is steadily heading towards being internationally recognised as a terrorist and pillager state. Recently, militaries of the aggressor country have been allowed at the state level to loot and rob both civilians and state institutions in Ukraine. In addition, the pillaging army kidnapped another mayor of a Ukrainian city who refused to support the occupation regime. Such cases become systematic so russia, among other things, can claim to be recognised as another pirate state.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces told how the Russians behave in the occupied territories
The Ukrainian Armed Forces, along with other units of defence forces, strongly fight back the enemy troops. In particular, two helicopters, two fighter jets (one of which was Su-34), and two UAVs were destroyed on the previous day.
Russian troops brutalise and torture local population. They conduct illegal searches, loot, and take people’s clothes, money, and food. In addition, cases of rape by the occupiers have been frequently reported.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Russian military violated the rules of humanitarian law. They allocate military equipment at high-risk facilities, among civilian infrastructure.
However, their morale level is getting worse. Cases of desertions are becoming more frequent.
Tissues, a pair of jackets, sneakers: a marauding occupier tells his mother about things he stole in abandoned Ukrainian house
Another intercepted telephone conversation between occupiers proved that they have been apparently officially allowed to rob Ukrainians. This time, a Russian soldier seems to have a talk to his mother. He tells about “smashed” village abandoned by its inhabitants and shares his impressions of what he saw. The occupier concludes that people in Ukraine live “fucking” good.
The soldier also notes that Russian militaries loot. They simply break out the windows, get into houses and loot. The occupier told his mother that he stole tissues, a pair of branded jackets and sneakers from the house. He also lamented about being unable to take back to Russia an almost brand new Infiniti he saw in the yard of one of the houses.
Russia let its occupiers to rob Ukrainian civilians — General Intelligence Directorate
Russian troops legalise looting on captured Ukrainian territories so as to solve logistics and communication problems, according to report by GID of the Ministry of Defence.
“Due to the failed attempt to conduct a brilliant offensive, the occupiers are forced to change tactics. Due to serious logistics problems and stretched communications, they are unable to properly supply their units with fuel, food, equipment, ammunition and carry out rotation”, the report says.
The General Intelligence Directorate points out that the occupiers’ current key task is to hold down their positions using civilians as a cover. At the same time, Russian troops were cut off from supplies and ordered to switch to “self-sufficiency”.
“That is, to take away everything they need from local residents and loot warehouses, stores, and pharmacies”, the GID explains the Russian order.
The GID reminds of the numerous videos of occupiers’ looting at the occupied territories. The GID also stresses that these are not the only crimes of Russian troops in Ukraine: the occupiers commit murders, tortures and rapes including those of minors.
“This is a deliberate policy of terror of the occupier state, encouraged by its top leadership. All of the occupiers’ crimes are recorded. Those committing them are known. So the retribution will be inevitable”, the GID speaker added.
Earlier, the General Staff reported that Russian occupiers in Ukraine were demoralised and engaged into looting at temporarily occupied territories. According to their data, the facts of looting, violent actions against local residents, seizure of civilian real estate are widely spread in Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv oblasts.
Occupiers Kidnap Another Mayor of Ukrainian City
In Zaporizhzhia oblast, Russian soldiers continue kidnapping city mayors. This time a head of one of the towns of Vasilievka district has disappeared.
This was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast Military Administration Oleksandr Starukh on Facebook.
It goes about the mayor of Dniprorudneh town of Vasilievka district Yevhen Matviiv.
“War crimes are becoming systemic. The mayor of Dniprorudneh Yevhen Matviiv was kidnapped”, he wrote.
There are no details on the incident yet.
As reported by Apostrophe, on March 11, the Russians kidnapped the mayor of Melitopol Ivan Fedorov who refused to cooperate with the occupiers. At the same time, he remained in office and performed his duties to ensure viability of the city.
