20 people were injured as a result of the massive Russian attack on Odesa on the night of April 30. Five of the wounded are in hospitals, three of them in serious condition. The city was attacked by strike drones. More than 20 residential buildings, as well as a kindergarten and a school, were damaged.
Nothing remained of the apartment of Odesa resident Olena after the night attack by the Russian army. The blow of the Russian strike drone fell on the upper floor, as a result of which only ruins now remain on the site of the apartment, which was at the epicenter of the attack.
“I was sleeping. I heard the air raid siren and immediately ran out of the apartment. Thank God, I survived. The apartment was completely destroyed… It was my only home, nothing else was left,” Olena says bitterly.
Part of the floor in the badly damaged room collapsed, and a huge hole was formed in the wall to the street.
“Even after several hours, the smoldering continues at the site of the impact. Inside the house there is a smell of burning, there is dust, and the walls and ceilings are charred,” says Odesa resident Ksenia Sytinska.
Odesa resident Nadiya’s apartment is located downstairs. The woman was lucky that she was not at home at the time of the attack.
“After the first shelling, I only repaired the windows… Tonight I was at my daughter’s. The picture is very sad,” says the Odesa resident, who returned to her destroyed house in the morning.
The blast wave from the impact was so strong that wide cracks appeared on the walls, and the doors were torn out of their frames. Because of this, some residents have not been able to get home since night.
Odesa resident Oleksandr Dovgan filmed the first seconds after the impact on his house. The man lost his leg defending Ukraine from the Russians. He ran out of the burning building on crutches.
“People were on the fifth floor, they blocked them, the woman was in the restroom, then they came back for them. There are no victims, thank God we are all alive. It’s a shame about the apartment, but thank God we are all alive,” — the Odesa resident cannot hold back his tears.
More than 20 residential buildings were damaged as a result of the Russian attack. In another place, a Russian drone fell next to a building, leaving a crater in the ground.
Odesa resident Volodymyr not only had his apartment damaged as a result of the strike, but his car was also completely burned down.
“The car is our source of income. I earn money from it by working as a taxi driver. Now I am left without a job, without a means of livelihood,” the man says.
Also at night, a Russian drone hit a kindergarten building. 150 children attended it. After the drone hit the roof of the building, a fire broke out. During the fire extinguishing, two floors of the kindergarten were flooded with water.
The destruction at the institution is extensive, with damaged offices, bedrooms, and utility rooms.
“Every morning we met children here who came with a smile, always happy: hugs, kisses, but this morning we came, and we don’t meet children,” says teacher Anna Osipenko with bitterness.
The liquidation of the consequences of the Russian attack continues in the areas of the strikes.
