Covering themselves with a human shield: the occupiers are setting up barracks and warehouses in the basements of buildings in Energodar

The Russian occupiers in the satellite city of the Zaporizhzhia NPP Energodari in Zaporizhzhia are preparing for defense. They set up barracks and ammunition depots in the basements of residential buildings, thereby covering themselves with energy sources in order to protect themselves in the event of an attack by the Armed Forces.

This was reported by the press service of Energoatom. It is noted that currently in the occupied city, there are rare cases where the Russian military uses the basements of civilian premises as places of permanent deployment, even furnishing them with beds, as, for example, in the basement of the building of the Department of Social Programs on the street. Kurchatova, 10, where about 50 occupants currently live.

It is also noted that the occupiers constantly bring some large boxes into the basements of houses at night – probably with weapons or explosives. Moreover, while the “process” continues, several soldiers watch over the windows of the house to protect themselves from unwanted bystanders. Similar “night works” were noticed immediately in several residential buildings of the fifth and seventh microdistricts.

Energoatom noted that the Russian military is aware that the Armed Forces will not aim at residential facilities, therefore, in order to protect themselves and their ammunition, they set up their hiding places there.

“It is also known about a large amount of explosives in the building of the communication hub near the city executive committee,” the report says.

The company urged residents of Energodar to try to avoid gatherings of the Russian military and to be vigilant.

We will remind: the occupiers are taking apartments from people in Energodar. War criminals of the Russian Federation are doing this in order to settle their people in the captured city.

“In the temporarily occupied Energodar, the Russians are occupying the apartments of local residents in order to house energy workers from Russian nuclear power plants there. This is necessary for the occupiers to replace the workers of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, who refuse to sign contracts with the invaders and continue to perform their duties within the limits of Ukrainian legislation,” it says. in the message.

– the Russian occupiers planned to take the residents of the temporarily captured city of Energodar to Crimea. The troops of the Russian Federation deliberately create unbearable living conditions for Ukrainians;

– in the temporarily occupied Energodar, the Russian invaders forced about 3,000 workers of the ZNPР to obtain passports of “citizens of the Russian Federation”. The terror continues in relation to local businesses.

In Melitopol, during the curfew, the occupiers dismantled a monument to Shevchenko

Sneaky, stealthy, under the cover of night. The Russian invaders again broke their word and demolished one of the main monuments of Melitopol.

In Melitopol, on the order of the occupation authorities, on January 13, around 11 o’clock in the evening, a monument to Taras Shevchenko was dismantled from its pedestal on Victory Square. One of the most famous symbols of Melitopol was vilely demolished by the invaders and taken out of the central square during the curfew – so that no one from Melitopol would see or interfere with them. A few witnesses report that the Rashists dismantled the monument very quickly: apparently, they were preparing for this “action” in advance.

The prepared plan of action, haste and carrying out the work in the middle of the night indicate that the invaders were very afraid of the reaction of the Melitopol people to this unconscionable act of vandalism.

It is noteworthy that rallies and protests have always been held near the monument to Shevchenko. The local Maidan against the Yanukovych regime has been meeting here since 2014. Representatives of the authorities laid flowers at the monument to Taras Shevchenko before the official dates.

Protesters gathered here against high tariffs for communal services, and bus drivers near the Shevchenko monument went on strike and demanded an increase in fares. It was from the Shevchenko monument that all patriotic actions and processions in the city were organized. He was, in a way, a symbol of freedom of speech.

It is quite likely that the removal of the monument to Shevchenko is a “response” to the dismantling of the monument with the statues of Russian empress Catherine II and general Suvorov in Odessa.

As always, the Russian fascists will justify the complete destruction of Ukrainian culture with the argument that “they started first” and will refer to both decommunization and the demolition of the monument to Catherine. There is only one key nuance here: from the beginning of the invasion, the occupiers publicly declared that they would not “become like Ukrainian Nazis” who are “fighting monuments” and that no Ukrainian monument would be demolished. All this time, they tried to pass themselves off as “highly cultured” and “moral” “liberators”, noble warriors who bring only justice and prosperity.

In disagreement with these words, in the first months of the occupation, the Rashists dismantled memorials and commemorative plaques in honor of the fallen ATO soldiers, monuments dedicated to Independence or other memorable events in the history of Ukraine. Even the memorial to the victims of the Famine of the 1930s was not spared by the hand of the barbarians. In Melitopol, a commemorative plaque in honor of Dmytro Dontsov, a native of the city, was destroyed.

At the same time, the invaders began to generously fill the city space with their own “idols”: monuments to Soviet executioners, KGBeshniks and Prince Alexander Nevsky were solemnly opened in the city, which has nothing to do with the history of Melitopol. And the most important thing is that at all events dedicated to the unveiling of new symbols of the occupation, the Gauleiter emphasized that the Russians are “not barbaric Ukrainians” and declared with a smile that under their government “monuments are only erected, not demolished.”

And that’s what it came to. All the bravado and oaths of the invaders and traitors turned out to be lies, as always. Demolition of any symbols of Ukrainian culture was a resolved issue for them, only its implementation was delayed. The same monument to Taras Shevchenko on the central square was mentioned separately by the occupation authorities, and it was said that it would definitely not be demolished under any circumstances. Now the Rashists have a “legitimate excuse” to uproot the culture and history of Ukraine with bulldozers, because they now have the “banners” of Odessa and the monument to Catherine.

If the Gauleiter do not have the courage to admit this act of vandalism, they can say, for example, that “the monument was taken away for restoration” – quite predictable for the “Russian world”. Under similar pretexts, a number of monuments in the occupied territories have already been demolished. Although the most likely “disappearance” of the monument to Shevchenko, the occupiers will not comment at all, and later they will simply install another “idol” of theirs on the empty pedestal.
