Environmentalists have calculated the damage that the Russian army caused to the ATB chain during the shelling of warehouses in late July 2025.
Recall that the Russians attacked grocery warehouses in the Kharkiv region on July 30. Russian missiles hit the warehouses of the retail chain, where there was a distribution center, which included three corporations, including grocery ones. A security guard was killed at the scene of the attack, four people were injured, including rescuers. A large-scale fire broke out at the scene of the attack, which was extinguished for more than a day.
Environmentalists have calculated the damage from this attack.
“Unorganized emissions of hazardous substances were released into the air, which caused a significant deterioration in the quality of the atmospheric environment. According to the conclusions of the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Kharkiv region, the environmental damage from this incident amounts to 15 million 873 thousand 833 hryvnias. This case is not just another line in the reports on the consequences of war. It is a reminder that every strike has not only a human, but also an ecological price. Polluted air, destroyed infrastructure facilities, toxic consequences – all this forms a new reality in which the environment becomes a hostage to aggression,” the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Kharkiv region reported. According to preliminary information, the Russians struck the ATB warehouses with two S-300/S-400 missiles.
