The town of Dobropillіa in Donetsk region was without power as a result of Russian shelling. As a result, more than 150 workers of one of the local mines were trapped underground.
The head of the Independent Trade Union of Mineworkers of Ukraine, Mykhailo Volynets, announced this on September 12.
Volynets said that the power outage affected the “Dobropilska” mine. At that moment, 151 employees of the enterprise were underground.
According to him, the rescue operation is now underway. So far, 80 miners have been brought to the surface.
He added that due to the lack of electricity, products are flooded and gassed. In addition, there is a threat of flooding of mine equipment.
On September 9, 74 miners were temporarily blocked underground at one of the coal mines in Donetsk region. The enterprise turned out to be without power after the shelling of the Russians.
