On October 30, Russian troops from the left bank covered all areas of Kherson with fire. City minibus No. 5 with passengers came under Russian artillery fire – seven people were injured. The Gonchar library also recently suffered significant damage.
“The impact caused a fire on the top floor. The fire was extinguished by firefighters who promptly arrived at the scene. People were not injured as a result of this strike,” the press service of the Kherson regional military administration reported.
As the Department of Emergency Services in the Kherson Region added, rescuers quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire, preventing the fire from spreading to the entire premises of the Oles Honchar Regional Scientific Library.
The library, which is constantly under enemy fire, has suffered considerable damage. The fire destroyed part of the floor and many books – although some of them were still saved.
In September, the Russians brought a batch of propaganda books to the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region. Instead, Russians remove Ukrainian literature from library collections and destroy it.
