Fires were extinguished in the Poltava region after shelling

Rescuers extinguished the fires that broke out as a result of the Russian combined strike on the night of October 16, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported. After the missile strikes, the Poltava region was on fire.

The Russians targeted the region’s energy infrastructure. As a result of the hits and falling debris, oil and gas industry facilities were damaged.

153 rescuers and 36 units of State Emergency Service equipment were involved in the elimination of the consequences of the strike.

On the night of October 15-16, the Russian armed forces carried out a combined missile and drone strike on the energy infrastructure of the Poltava region, the Poltava Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported. Among the means of destruction were the Geran-2 UAV and cruise missiles, the type of which is being determined. Their fragments are found in the region.

As a result of the hits and falling debris in the Poltava and Myrhorod districts, oil and gas industry facilities were damaged. According to the investigation, there were no casualties. Information about the damaged property is being clarified.

Currently, under the procedural leadership of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the SBU Department in the Poltava Region has initiated pre-trial investigations in five criminal proceedings for committing a war crime.
