Due to systematic Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and difficult weather conditions, mass power outages were recorded as of the morning of February 19.
The Ministry of Energy reports a critical situation in the eastern, southern and central regions of the country.
The most difficult situation is observed in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions, where energy facilities were damaged as a result of hostilities.
Energy workers are working in an intensified mode, but the security situation often limits the speed of restoration.
The Ministry of Energy is paying special attention to the Odesa region, where the consequences of previous Russian attacks remain tangible, and the state of the networks is characterized as difficult. Currently, continuous restoration work is underway there to stabilize the system.
In addition to military factors, the energy supply was significantly affected by an atmospheric front, which caused accidents due to bad weather.
More than 458 settlements in Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions remain without electricity.
Due to the power shortage in the power system, hourly outage schedules have been introduced in most regions of Ukraine today.
Strict power consumption restrictions are also in place for industrial enterprises.
In some areas, where the state of the networks has reached a critical level, dispatchers were forced to apply emergency outages outside of the schedules. This is necessary to prevent large-scale accidents on main power lines.
