Five were tortured: a security officer from the Russian Federation told how he killed a prisoner in the Kherson region

Policemen from the Russian Federation came to earn money in the occupied territory of Ukraine. Six months later, five Ukrainians went missing in the village of Gornostaivka, where they worked.

A Russian policeman admitted that he participated in the torture to death of a Ukrainian who was captured during the occupation of the Kherson region. In addition to him, four more security officers who came to Ukraine “for work” were involved in the crime.

The information was received from an unnamed source in the Russian police, which operates in the occupied territory of Ukraine.

Police lieutenant Igor Pimenov, who in March 2023 came to work for the “Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation” in the village of Gornostaevka (located on the banks of the Dnieper north of Novaya Kakhovka), confessed to his crimes. On November 20, Pimenov, together with four other Russians, tortured 27-year-old Ukrainian Ruslan Rusnak, who was a military man in the past, for about eight hours. On February 12, during the interrogation, the Russian told what happened to Rusnak. According to him, on the morning of March 20, “policemen” captured the Ukrainian and took him to the police station. The reason for the detention is that he allegedly directed drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at Russian targets in the occupied territories. In the station, the man was tortured, trying to extract a confession. Finally, around 4 p.m., he died.

In addition to Pimenov (he came from Lyubertsy from the suburbs of Moscow), the following persons participated in the crime:

  • police colonel Andriy Polevshchikov — held the position of “head of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Gornostaivka”, before that he headed the police station in Tomsk;
  • lieutenant colonel V.A. Merkulov is Polevshchikov’s deputy;
  • captain V.M. Plyukhin is the head of the “criminal investigation”;
  • major A.B. Denisov is an “operator”.

All five Russians were detained “a few days ago” – the exact date is not specified. The men are suspected of “exceeding official authority”.

In addition to Rusnak, the group of immigrants from the Russian Federation may have had other victims. In particular, soon after the murder of the Ukrainian, six more civilians were brought to the “department”. Two of them were immediately released, and the fate of the rest is still unknown. The post mentions the names of several missing persons – they are twins Ivan and Anton Shtepa and 23-year-old Denys Shum.
