Following the Kakhovskaya HPP, the Russians blew up a dam in Zaporizhzhia: how serious are the consequences

Russians continue to commit crimes on the territory of Ukraine. Following the Kakhovskaya HPP, the occupiers blew up a dam in the Zaporizhzhia region near the village of Novodarivka.

Deputy of Zaporizhzhia Regional Council Serhiy Lyshenko told about it. He emphasized how serious the consequences are for the surrounding areas.

According to Serhii Lyshenko, the situation with the dam near Novodarivka is simpler, since the river on which it is located is not full of water and as large as the Dnipro.

“The reservoir in which this water was stored is an artificially created pond, which was used for rural fishing, water storage, etc. It will not have large-scale consequences, because the spilling of water will not create significant obstacles,” assured the deputy of the regional council.

He added that according to the available information, there were no flooding of residential buildings as a result of the detonation of the dam. Probably, the occupiers wanted to blur the village roads in this way and make it impossible for vehicles to move.

But such their actions will not create significant obstacles, – added Lyshenko.

It became known about the undermining of the dam on June 11. The spokesperson of the Joint Coordination Center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria Region, Valery Shershen, specified that the dam on the Mokri Yala River was being discussed. According to him, this led to the flooding of both banks of the river. However, the course of counteroffensive actions of the Armed Forces will not be affected in any way.
