The Russians continue to conduct cynical “trials” of Ukrainian military personnel who fought for Mariupol in the spring of 2022. The Russians accuse our defenders of serious crimes and sentence them to considerable prison terms. Yes, they recently announced the “sentences” of Oleg Kolmychevskyi, Dmytro Dobrovolskyi, and Oleksandr Romashin, soldiers of the 37th separate motorized infantry battalion “Zaporizhzhia” and the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Having gathered “evidence”, the so-called investigative committee of the Russian Federation accused the defenders of Mariupol of harsh treatment of the civilian population in the occupied territory, the murder of two or more people, committed by an organized group, motivated by political and ideological hatred.
According to the “investigation”, all three soldiers in their unit were in combat positions in Mariupol from February 24 to April 12, 2022. At the same time, grenade launcher Dmytro Dobrovolskyi and gunner of the anti-tank platoon of the fire support company Oleksandr Romashyn, following the orders of the head of the radar, chemical and biological protection service Oleg Kolmychevskyi, allegedly detained and shot civilians who were spotted by them near the position. In total, they “shot” eight residents of Mariupol – seven men and a woman.
The defenders of Mariupol were given a severe punishment for the alleged crime. The Russians sentenced Oleg Kolmychevskyi to life imprisonment, and the other two soldiers to 30 years in prison.
