The situation in the border areas of the Sumy region remains extremely tense. In recent days, the Russians have intensively shelled civilian infrastructure, using a variety of weapons, including guided aerial bombs.
As Volodymyr Artyukh, the head of the Sumy regional military administration, reported, the Russians are about to release from 40 to 50 guided air bombs on the border communities. Among them are both conventional and new modernized models, which were used for shelling the city of Sumy on August 11. In addition, the Russians began to use more powerful FAB-500 bombs.
As a result of these shellings, there are victims among the civilian population. Only on August 11, five people were injured.
To ensure the safety of the population, the regional military administration continues to carry out evacuations from dangerous areas. As of today, 19,800 people have been evacuated, including 2,500 children. Since August 6, about 3,800 residents, including 175 children, have been additionally evacuated from 23 settlements in five communities of the Sumy district.
Mandatory evacuation has been announced for families with children living in Seredyno-Budska and Velikopysarivska communities.
The Sumy Regional Military Administration calls on residents of the border areas to evacuate immediately to safer places.
